Range Hoods

  • How do I determine the best range hood for my kitchen?
Step 1: decide the style of your range hood: wall mount, island mount or under cabinet.
Step 2: measure the width of the location where you plan to install the range hood. And then, use the measurement to choose the appropriate range hood. Standard widths are 30”, 36”, and 48”.
Step 3: determine whether you need a chimney or not. Most range hood installations require a clearance of 26” to 29” between the bottom of the hood and the cooking surface. To determine if you need chimneys or not, simply measure the distance from the stovetop to the ceiling and then minus the 26” to 29” clearance. That is the distance in which you’ll need to install chimneys.

  • What are the different styles of range hood?
Wall mount: installed flush to the wall and reaches up to the ceiling.
Island mount: installed directly above a kitchen island and directly to the ceiling.
Under Cabinet: mounted underneath the kitchen cabinet that is positioned directly above the stove.

  • What is C.F.M.?
C.F.M. stands for “Cubic Feet per Minute” and is a measure of airflow. The greater the CFM rating, the more air the fan will move, hence better ventilation and airflow.

  • What is a ventless or ductless range hood?
Ventless or ductless range hoods are especially useful for kitchens that do not have ventilations. They are designed with carbon filters that re-circulate the air, hence improving indoor air quality.

  • How to find my range hood’s model/PID?
Every range hood’s model number and PID can be found on the exterior of the original packaging of the range hoods. If the box is no longer in possession, the model number can still be found on the manufacture note on the range hood unit by removing the filters. The manufacturer note is either on the back of the motor or on the interior walls.
The range hood’s model number is usually listed as the first item on the technical specifications.

  • Can I purchase extensions/segments/chimneys for my range hood?
AKDYUSA does NOT sell extensions, but customers can purchase additional segments or chimneys for wall-mount range hoods.

Second, check the sizes listed in the product specifications, to determine which sinks would potentially fit.
